8bit Joystick.com presents E3 2004 via the Intarweb

I have a full time job and it is not a videogame journalist so I did not go to the E3 Expo so my E3 coverage will consist of me linking to the stuff that I have read by people who were lucky enough to actually go. Besides I hear that LA is hot as hell around this time of year.

People who got to go.

From the Nintendo website:

"Advance Wars makes its way from the Game Boy Advance to the Nintendo GameCube where the turn-based strategy favorite transforms into a fast-paced, 3-D, real-time combat action game."

Wow, that officially sucks. Read it as "where everything that was great about the old game will be chucked out the window in favor of 3D graphics and terrible real-time play."

Yeah I know it is a different genre but take a look at the video clip on the Nintendo e3 site. It looks fun.

What I want to know about the Nintendo DS is are the screens going to be lit (side/back/whocares)?

I want a viable replacement for my old style GBA, since I cannot use the GBA SP with my massive logger hands.

Yeah, the Advance Wars is kind of odd... as is the Metal Gear Solid CARD BATTLER... however, you really can't go wrong with Odama

A Samurai/Military *pinball* game by Nintendo. How can you go wrong with that concept? *note: not being sarcastic*

On the Nintendo DS E3 page it says
"Each 3-inch screen can reproduce a true 3-D view and is backlit to assure comfortable play in any lighting condition."

My friend Nick (Anticrash) went as a rep. for Gearcritech.com

After hearing him talk about both DS and PSP on the phone while he was at day 1, I have to say.. I'm *very* impressed with what Sony has done. Granted, it will be a tough fight to uproot the GB fans out there, but i think with PSP they are going to make a killing.

I just hope that Gradius V sticks with the current schedule and is finally is released this year.

Posted by: InsaneDavid at May 14, 2004 8:59 PM

Dude, you could totally get into E3. If fucking Real Life Comics can get its creators into the show, this site sure as hell can. Just try registering next year and see what happens. And let me know, because it'd be cool to have someone to hang out with at the show.

Posted by: Evilninja at May 15, 2004 3:26 PM

meh. It is more about taking the week off and going to LA than getting a press pass.

Posted by: Jake of 8bitjoystick.com at May 15, 2004 4:49 PM

Bah. Think of it as an opportunity to drum up new business and make connections.
