Why I'm No Longer Cool (Or: Why I Need a PSP)
Because Dracula X: Rondo of Blood is coming to the USA! It will be a 2.5-Dimensional remake of the long lost Castlevania game, Rondo of Blood, and will also include the original 2-D versions of Rondo and its excellentabulous sequel, Symphony of the Night. The new 3-D graphics look great, maybe not quite as nice as the classic 2-D, but still very cool and best of all, both this and Symphony are now going to be portable.
Rondo is the last great linear-style Castlevania game, before they became exploration-oriented like Symphony. A half-assed port of Dracula X was released domestically for the SNES some years ago, but it is but a pale, stinky shadow of the PC Engine/Turbo Duo CD masterpiece. You can watch the videos and read more about the new version at 1up.com and The Castlevania Dungeon. I'm excited about this, but I'm torn for two reasons:
1. Now I have to spend money on a PSP, AND a Wii(because of the new Godzilla game).
2. I was one of the cool nerds who got a Turbo Duo and the original CD of Dracula X from Japan back in 1993. For the last 14 years I've enjoyed the Holy Grail of classic 2D gaming joy that everyone else could only dream about or consider paying $350.00 to get off eBay. It made me feel special, and I was the envy of many a gamer. Now, I'm not going to be a cool nerd anymore, just a regular nerdy one. Sigh. But at least this comes as a blessing for the good of the world.

Damn man you beat me to a post about it.
Atleast both the Wii/DS/PSP Godzilla game is going to come out in fall 2007 as well as Castlevania PSP collection so you have some time to get your PSP on.
