Review : Ikaruga for Gamecube
I love space ship shooters, and I like hard space ship shooters but, Holy shit! This game is really freaking hard. While other games hold your hand, this game kicks your ass. And makes you like it. Many people will probably be shunned away by Ikaruga's dificulty and that's just not right. It may be intensely hard but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad game. Once you get used to its bizzare, yet fresh, gameplay mechanic it's levels will start growing on you.
All of the enemies in the game are either black or white. You can change your ship from black and white too. If you get hit by a bullet of the opposite color as you, you blow up. If you get hit by a bullet the same color as you, you can absorb it and use it back on enemies. So basically you don't have to dodge all the bullets in the game. As I said before it's a nice twist.
Ikaruga also sports some amazing graphics and a kickass soundtrack. The Gamecube version of the game also has an online ranking mode so you can own other people halfway across the world.
The only faults I can see in this game is that the insane difficulty will turn away some gamers. But this crazy difficulty only makes it more rewarding when you beat the game.
Gabe of Penny Arcade loves this game.
This game is not for people who enjoy blinking.

wow, this game is tough, but it somehow makes me want to beat it even more. Best shoot em' up ever i say!!!
